Twin Axial Ribbon Cable Wins Award

The SL8800 Series Twin Axial Ribbon Cable from 3M has been named one of the most technology significant products introduced in the past year.

The R&D Magazine’s prestigious 49th Annual R&D 100 Awards saw 100 products receive recognition for being a benchmark of excellence in a variety of industries – from academia to government to medical and manufacturing.

3M Interconnect – a cable and connector manufacturer saw its newest innovation Twin Axial Ribbon Cable SL8800 Series win an award, of which past winners include the fax machine, liquid crystal display, HDTV, and company solutions 3M Aluminium Conductor Composite Reinforced (ACCR).

3M provided a solution to modern challenges through the development of a unique flat cable construction that minimizes the overall thickness of the cable and enhances its bendability, without sacrificing electrical performance.

“The unique characteristics of 3M Twin Axial Cable solutions allow design engineers to rethink the possibilities of how the design of vital electronic components – from servers to embedded systems – are developed,” said Voyl Divljakovic, 3M Electronic Solutions Division, vice president and general manager.

The cable is the industry’s first known flat, foldable and longitudinally shielded high-performance twin axial ribbon cable.
